2W become performance poets!

This week 2W have been exploring poetry and investigating how words are used for effects and to create a picture or story. They have been looking at the importance of rhythm when reading a poem aloud and how this changes with different poems. They have also been exploring how they could perform a poem by adding in sound effects or movements to illustrate the key words or parts of the poem. We hope you enjoy them as the boys worked really hard on their respective poems.

2W create real treasures.

2W have been really excited and motivated in their art lessons with Mr Jones over the last couple of weeks as they have been making their own treasure boxes. The boys have been basing their designs on the trunks brought back by explorers such as Sir Frances Drake from their travels. These trunks were always full of treasure for those at home, there may have been spices, materials, cocoa or maybe even gold bullion taken from other vessels! The boys have worked really hard on the structures of their treasure chests before laying on planks in the form of balsa wood – a lot lighter than the originals! They are also really enjoying working with Mr Jones who is Head of Art at the Junior School and this will futher aid their transition from the Infant to Junior departments of the school.
