Over the last three weeks the boys have been designing and making a working winding mechanism. First they investigated how these types of mechanisms work and practised making a simple model. They then designed their own riverside box model that had to contain a part that would move using a working winding mechanism. There were some super ideas including fishermen casting in rods, boats that bob gently up and down and people who are dangling their legs into the water to keep cool.
Take a look at their finished models. Didn’t they do well.

On Friday afternoon, as part of raising money for the Macmillan Cancer research charity 2W took part in a silent disco. We all put on wireless headphones and boogied away on the astroturf! Our favourite song was the Gangnam style song, we also loved One Direction. Toyan was ‘busting some serious moves’ and so was Ashley and Rohan! We all joined arms together and danced around the edge having lots of fun together. We listened to lots of different tunes.Thank you to Mrs Baker for organising this really fun event.
On Monday 10th June, Year Two visited Southwell Minster to take part in Time Travelling with five other schools from around Nottingham. They took part in a series of workshops based around the theme of Senses and Southwell minster itself. The boys had a wide range of experiences from dressing up as a cocoa trader to taking part in a baptism. We all had a fantastic time and got to appreciate the beautiful buildings and even saw a part of the Minster that was nearly 1,000 years old! The weather was kind to us and we enjoyed our picnic in the grounds.
Just before half term the boys were set a challenge to design and make a boat that would float. First they had to find out which recycled items would float and then whether those items could be used within their design.
Here are their results.
